A New Chapter for Babette, Now in South Miami

Babette is a world-cuisine restaurant in South Miami, created by Chef Dani Chávez-Bello and Alex Oliveros. Dinner is served Tuesday through Saturday from 6 p.m. at 5855 Sunset Drive, in the house we share with Clásica Victoria.

Born from a Passion for Bringing People Together

Some restaurants begin with a concept. Others begin with people. Babette began with both.

From its opening in 2024, Babette spent its evenings in Coral Gables, guided by a simple belief: exceptional food, thoughtful design and genuine hospitality, brought together into something as personal as it is memorable. More than a restaurant, Babette reflects the people behind it, their shared history, and their wish to make every guest feel at home.

At the heart of Babette is a partnership. After decades apart, Dani and Alex found their way back to each other and built Babette together, two complementary worlds joined in one table.

Chef Dani brings more than twenty years in some of the world’s most respected kitchens, including El Bulli and Bouley in New York, with time spent cooking across Europe and Asia. His cuisine is precise yet generous, ingredient-first, and never more complicated than it needs to be.

Alex shapes everything that surrounds the food: Babette’s identity, its interiors, its atmosphere, and the relationships that bring guests back again and again. Together, they extend that experience beyond the dining room through private events and catering, always guided by one philosophy: everything matters, and every guest matters.

Evenings at 5855 Sunset Drive

Since September 2026, Babette has called South Miami home, sharing a house with Clásica Victoria, the beloved neighborhood café founded by Victoria Galindez. Victoria’s pastry tradition began in Buenos Aires in 1996, inspired by her grandmother, and was refined in Paris and Vienna. Her warmth has made Clásica Victoria a place where regulars are greeted by name.

By day, Clásica Victoria remains exactly as South Miami knows and loves it.

By night, the house becomes Babette. Tuesday through Saturday from 6 p.m., the room takes on Babette’s own ambiance, and Chef Dani’s kitchen brings the technique and care that defined Babette in Coral Gables, now at home in South Miami.

Two independent stories. Two distinct identities. One shared belief in what makes hospitality meaningful.
